This is a gorgeous transformation of shipping containers. Who would think it possible to take large metal boxes designed to carry cargo and turn them into a beautiful place to live?

There are so many benefits to this type of construction, it is a quick process, it is green and it is resourceful just to name a few of the benefits.

This couple has created a welcoming and attractive home with a modern 529 square foot home that uses some unique approaches to add function but stay attractive.

Solar panels and water barrels help to keep the utility costs at a minimum and stay eco friendly. The hallways or “links” to the containers are cleverly housing the closets for pantry, laundry, and clothes.

The cost is about $100,000 US dollars for this home and is easily adaptable to add on and create more space as the couple’s family grows.

Shipping containers are an option that we are considering as we look to create A Tiny Act of Kindness Homes for the Homeless. However, we will make ours a little smaller and incorporate cost saving methods to make as many of these as possible.
